Making scones Each month the range we take to the farmer’s markets changes to reflect the successful output of kitchen alchemy which means our ‘tasting panel’ like them – friends, family, neighbours, passers’ by.....

More importantly, the monthly ‘menu’ flaunts lovely local Dorset harvest at its seasonal best. We keep your (and our) favourites in and if we can’t find the produce at its best we don’t substitute with poor quality we wait until its back in season. Hence, our baking year starts with marmalade.... and for 3 weeks we are found hovering over pans of simmering Seville oranges.... and then they’re gone and that’s it for a year and we stop sticking to everything we touch!

So, in order to make good Dorset grub we drive to Shaftesbury to load up on Stoates organic flour, we get Woolsery goats’ cheese from Sydling, use free range eggs from Friar Wadden, buy bacon from Pampered Pigs, fruit from Elwell Farm, Piddle beer from the Piddle Brewery and Dorset Blue Vinny cheese .... to name but a few. We get local meat from the Quality Butchers on Maude road in Dorchester and in spring, summer & autumn you will likely find us on our knees or up trees ‘picking our own’ locally or foraging in hedgerows for elderflowers, wild garlic and blackberries.

Seriously Ginger

A proper spicy sticky gingerbread made with stem ginger and a lemon and ginger syrup drizzle icing. Cooked and presented in its own little box, wrapped in greaseproof and tied up with string. Gluten free can be made to order. £2.95
